23 with a Uterine Mass and Thick Endometrial Lining

Hi all.

I’m 23 and recently married. I’ve had some abnormal vaginal bleeding since 27 May - constant spotting which hadn’t got heavier until two days ago. This is still light and barely touches a sanitary pad (not like my usual periods at all - very heavy with clots usually!).

I put it down to stress, but attended a doctors appointment last Wednesday and had cervical swabs. These were normal.

I was referred for a pelvic ultrasound, the next day I had my appointment with the results coming back two hours later. These were Borderline.

I have had a conversation with my GP today to discuss the results.

I have enlarged ovaries.

My endometrial lining is abnormally thick at 16mm.

They have found a small mass which they believe to be a polyp, but the GP said they would potentially biopsy this.

I have had a 2WW referral for gynaecological cancer done by the GP which she said would be unlikely (for some reason). I’m really scared, so my husband as put me onto his private healthcare with AXA, which I’m hoping will help with timings of things.

Just some additional information - I’ve had 3 miscarriages and had investigations under the recurrent miscarriage clinic which came back normal.

Any advice?

  • Hello Mlchamberlain

I'm sorry to hear that you've recently had some health concerns and that the investigations you had have resulted in some further testing being advised. It's understandable that you're feeling anxious about what may be causing your problems.

Hopefully you won't have to wait too long for the appointment with the specialist and they will be able to give you some reassurance on the day.

In the meantime, we know that waiting for appointments and results can be a difficult time for many people. It can often help to talk things through with someone and I wonder if you might find it useful to have a chat with one of our nurses. I'm sure they will be happy to offer any advice, information and support they can ahead of your appointment. If you'd like to chat with them they're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

I hope you have some news soon.

    Best wishes,
    Jenn

  • Hi.

unfortunately the urgent referral has been rejected as I am under 55 and not post menopausal.

I’m now taking steps to go to a private hospital.
