5cm fibroadenoma B3 core biopsy

Hello! I’m 43 years old and found a 5 cm/s lump ,  had scan , mammogram and core biopsy . Last week during my appointment doctor said my biopsy came B3 and booked  me to have a wide local excision n t week .  This is the third time I’ll have surgery to remove fibroadenoma ( never this big ) but this is the first time my Biopsy is B3 . I lost 5 kilos in one month due to stress. Does B3 means something  else?

  • Hi Deinha,

Thought I'd reply as I am in a similar situation to yourself. I believe B3 grading refers fo 'uncertain malignancy potential'. The majority are benign however they encompass a lot of different lesions, some which are quite rare thus little information regarding their potential malignancy. Chances are your lesion is benign but they aren't going to know for certain until they remove it. I hope your surgery goes well. I am also having surgery on Saturday for my B3 lesion (myofribroblastic proliferation).

  • I hope your surgery goes well too . I was so stressed that I didn’t  ask why . I’m counting the days for next Thursday to have it removed .I noticed that it’s getting bigger and it’s driving me cra zy with anxiety . Thank you so much for replying.

  • Hi can I ask how it went, and hopefully it was benign
