FIT/Calprotectin Test for Bowel Cancer

Hi, I've just done a FIT/Calprotectin test for bowel cancer screening where you have a small dipstick. I'm nervous that I didn't put enough on it as, without wanting to be too graphic, lots of the faeces came off the end of the stick and stuck around the area of the container that doesn't have the liquid in it. The end of the stick was still covered but you could see the green ridges of the stick and I'm therefore a bit nervous that I haven't put enough on. Would the lab deny the test if there wasn't enough? I'm  nervous that they may miss something if I haven't given done the test properly. Really appreciate any guidance. Thanks!

  • Hello Denmarkian

I'm sorry to hear that you're feeling so anxious about your recent FIT test. If the lab doesn't have enough of a sample to be able to process the test, I'm sure that they will be in touch to let you know this.

Hopefully you won't have to wait too long for the results and they will bring some reassuring news.

    Best wishes,
