Year on from finishing breast cancer treatments… shadow on my lung

Gutted to have had a routine chest X-ray from a cough that wouldn’t go

To be told I’ve a shadow on my lung . I’ve been referred back to my breast cancer unit for further test etc as the respiratory team wanted them to look into the cause first

I so scared and worried I’ve secondary cancer

can anyone offer me in help etc?

im so sorry that this is happening to you ,bless you , why couldn’t they tell you there and then if something was found surely the breast clinic would send you back there for X-rays ? Hopefully this is nothing sinister and it will be ok x love lata x

  • I know your fear. My wife is a year out from breast cancer and during her 1st annual mammo, something was picked up in her other breast. Enough that they decided to do biopsies, and she's needing it fully removed in August. The initial biopsies came back is nothing concerning, but because of her recent history, they're wanting it all out.

After the biopsies, they're no longer duly concerned as they first were, but yeah, things have to be taken more seriously given her history.

About your lungs, infection and even past infections can show up as shadows, so as hard as it is, don't go having yourself dead and buried because an infection is far more likely. Just like that something they found in my wife was more likely to be something benign than cancerous. It doesn't stop the worry, though. It's the new normal. Things we wouldn't have batted an eyelid at this time 2 years ago now suddenly become all consuming. From simple back aches, to things being found on scans.
