Palpable Supraclavicular Lymph Node

Hi,

I am posting here as I am a bit anxious about a few symptoms I have. I recently noticed my supraclavicular lymph node can be felt on one side. I did what everyone does and googled it, obviously I honed in on the words "metastatic disease".

Last year I found a lump in my breast and got an ultrasound and a mammogram, they said it was a cyst (or rather that I had multiple cysts and the reason I felt one is likely that it is closer to the surface). Never had a biopsy. The lump is still there. For months I have been having joint pain/bone pain in several different locations - back, hips, shoulders etc. I requested an MRI for my back and was told that it is osteoarthritis (I am only 35).

Now I am feeling the supraclavicular lymph node - I don't have any illness/infection. It has always been in the back of my mind that they may have missed something with the breast lump and possibly misdiagnosed the osteoarthritis and when I put it all together it just makes me worry in case they have missed something.

I will make an appointment with my Dr in the coming weeks to get the lymph node looked at but am half afraid of mentioning my concerns in case they think I am just a hypochondriac and dismiss me - at the same time I don't want to ignore all of this just in case there is something being missed.

  • Hi MissWomble,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm sorry to hear of your concerns with your symptoms. Making an appointment with your GP is the right thing to do - and it's certainly a good idea to talk through your concerns and any symptoms. Make a note of the things you want to discuss, and any questions you have, and talk it all through during your appointment. It's important that you get some answers or peace of mind about it.

In the meantime, try not to Google it as this is rarely helpful and the information is often irrelevant and can lead to further worries.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben

  • Hi, just going through your post. I was wondering if your doctors are able to figure out whats wrong? Any updates?

  • Hi,

I was sent for an ultrasound of my lymph nodes but they said everything was fine. Can still feel them. I've kind of accepted now that if there was anything wrong it would have been found by now.

  • Glad to know that everything came back as normal. I have exactly the same issues. Breast lumps and pain in one spot. Mamogram last year were negative. Now I have swollen right supraclavicular node and waiting for ENT and breast clinic appointments. I am 42 with a family history of lungs and breast cancer.

  • I had the same thing . Everyone kept telling me I was OK the scans were OK the mri was OK the bloods were on. 3 weeks in hospital.  Eventually they biopsied a lymph node and got told I'd stage 4b flip 4 FNHL .
