6 months does seem like quite a long time to wait, but this may depend on the type of referral you've been given and possibly what part of the country you're in, so if you're concerned it may be worth double checking with your GP whether they have done an urgent referral or not.

To try and increase your chances of being seen more quickly you could let the breast clinic know you're happy to take any cancellations that pop up. There is no guarantee that this will work but there's no harm in letting them know.

Hopefully some of our members who have been in a similar position will share their thoughts and advice with you soon but in the meantime, I hope some of the tips and advice given for managing worries and anxiety on the NHS Every Mind Matters website will help.
