Hi Maudella! 

I’m 25 and a scan showed my endometrium lining was 20mm. My journey with this so far has been that last week, I had an endometrial biopsy and a camera too. I’m still waiting for the results back from that biopsy. If at your appointment this is something they say you might need too - I’m here to offer any support with this! 

initially after my scan I was told I’d need an urgent appointment but this looked like it would take a fair amount of time to wait - hopefully this isn’t the case with you. Definitely chase things up if they seem to be going slow. One night though my Dr called and said that I would be getting a 2 week wait instead (a cancer referral) so things moved really quickly after that. Had a gyny appointment on a Monday, pre-op on the Thursday and then actual procedure on the Tuesday. 

good luck! Try and keep yourself busy and stay positive. I’ve heard stories of women with linings of 40mm who were okay. The ball is moving now and you should hopefully get some answers soon.

I hope you are OK, just wondering if you have heard anything back?

I am in a similar situation at the moment, I am 37 and have been have heavy periods since June last year, often lasting 8 weeks + and then spotting inbetween, which has caused anaemia.

I had abdo and internal ultrasounds done 2 weeks ago and it showed that I had grossly thickened endometrium (27mm) so my GP referred me to gynae under the 2ww.

I had a hysteroscopy and biopsy done last Friday and I was told that it would be approx 4 weeks until I get results.

My aunt passed away last year from Ovarian cancer, she was stage 4 at diagnosis and only lasted 9 months so I am really petrified at the moment and I don't know what is going to happen if there is a positive or negative biopsy result.

Hi voodooqueen86 I have my appointment for the hysteroscopy this week. Have you got any advice to make it more bearable?

how have you been whilst waiting for your results?

Hey Maudella definitely take both paracetamol and Ibuprofen (if you can) 1 to 2 hours before the appointment. It did hurt at the end, mainly when the biopsy was being taken but it really wasn't as bad as I imagined it being. The consultant did offer me gas and air or local anaesthetic, if I thought I needed it. 

I'm ok, just want to know what's going on really. Finding it difficult trying to concentrate at work etc.

Hey Maudella  how are you doing? Did you have your hysteroscopy? How did it go? 

 voodooqueen86 I did, it was ok. Had a polyp removed and biopsies taken. 
The team were so good, very thorough in their explanation of what would happen and why.

Said I’ll get a letter with the results and next steps. But will be returned to the GP, the removal of the polyp is expected to improve the situation. We shall see.
