2ww call - haven't heard back yet. Should I contact them?

Hi

I have had a hard painful lump around my nipple..ptobablynthe size of a £2 coim.  you can't move it when you touch it. It also Hurts without touching it.

I've probably had it for a few weeks as I have NF1 some have many lumps and bumps...but my sister recently had breast cancer 6 months ago and had to have a mascetomy so I had it checked out by Dr last week.

It's pretty solid and can be felt underneath clothes so my Dr referred me for an urgent 2ww.

She said if I hadn't heard from them within 4 days to call. Its now 4 days, but I don't want to trouble a very busy hospital and feel they will call soon.

Should in chase?..or will they call or send me a letter within 2 weeks?

I have a feeling it is a cyst of some sort as I had one before about 6 years ago.

Thanks

  • Welcome to the forum Leorom47 although I'm sorry to hear about your breast lump as well as your sister's diagnosis 6 months ago. This must have been a very tough time for you both.

I hope the hospital has now got back to you since you made this post but if they haven't and you're still unsure about what to do, there's no harm in giving them a call and chasing this up, especially as they told you to do so if you hadn't heard from them within the time frame they gave you.

Many of our members have been in similar situations so they will definitely understand what you're going through at the moment and hopefully it won't be long until some of them stop by to offer their thoughts and advice.

I hope your appointment goes well when the time comes and that the results show the lump to be no cause for concern.

    Kind regards,

  • Thanks...I had a mammogram and ultrasound. They said it was a cyst, but had stuff around it. They did an aspiration, which took two needle tubes of bkoodyness out. But said there was still a lump, which I can still fill although  smaller.. they did a biopsy on it. Waiting for results.i thought a cyst couldn't be cancerous? Subsequent to that I got my Dr's blood test results as I have been so fatigued and light headed for a for a weeks and achy dull arms and hands. That can back saying I had Very low hemoglobin levels and vitamin D deficient. Dr just put me on supplements without testing anything else or even speaking to me. I've never had any results like that before in years of blood tests. Could it be connected? Should I ask for different tests? I'm concerned that there is an underlying connection. Thanks

  • I'm glad to hear they think the lump is just a cyst Leorom but despite knowing this, and being told a lump is still there, I'm sure the wait for your results over the next couple of weeks will be very tough.

I know I can't take the worry away but I hope some of the tips and advice given in this article will help during this anxious time.

Unfortunately I can't answer the other questions in your post but if you're worried, then you could try booking an appointment with your GP to discuss this. If you have more than one GP working at your surgery then you could try getting a second opinion from another doctor.

You're also welcome to talk things through with one of our cancer nurses next week on 0808 800 4040. Their phone lines are open Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m and they will do all they can to help.

We're thinking of you Leorom and will have our fingers crossed your results bring good news when they come through.

  • Just wanted to say Thank You Steph.

My breast clinic called me in earlier tjan my original appointment.  I do have Grade 3 Invasive ductal carcinoma. I don't know much about it yet. Don't want to read too much on Goobje... I just knew it because how my breast  felt. It did stem from a cyst.

I have to wait for the results of the receptor test next week to see  a treatment plan. I am feeling positive and know things will be fine.

    Thank you for the support..

    Leona
