Hello
My husband had Hodgkins Lymphoma 19 years ago; had 7 months ABVD chemo, into remission. Five years ago, he started to feel unwell with fatigue, blurred vision, headaches. Three years ago, he couldn't work any more and was diagnosed with ME/CFS. He sleeps 17 hours a day and is very weak; we've had virtually no support from GPs. Last week, he had a rash behind his ear, we got an emergency GP appointment and they said it was dry skin, prescribed a cream and repeated blood tests. We wanted a second opinion as he was clearly in pain. Went to local Minor Injuries Clinic, where a nurse sent a photo to ENT and they diagnosed Shingles and prescribed Antivirals.
I asked for the blood test results today and they are very worrying. GP has sent a text message asking to book repeat blood test in a month's time. Results are below range for (previous results have not been below range):
Total white blood count (XaIdY)
Platelet count - observation (42P..)
Neutrophil count (42J..)
Lymphocyte count (42M..)
Eosinophil count - observation (42K..)
My question is: are these results normal for Shingles or could they be related to a reoccurence of Hodgkins Lymphoma or related cancer? I'm afraid I don't have any faith in the local GPs but am not sure who I can ask.
