Waiting for an ultrasound

Hi all!

Back at the beginning of March, I came across multiple lumps near my breast tissue. Reported it to the doctors immediately and was told I would be contacted by the hospital for an ultrasound.
I have tried ringing the surgery to see when this should be but they quite frankly just shut me down.
Does anyone know when I should expect to receive my letter?

  • If you are referred to the breast clinic, you should have a letter within 2 weeks. Ring the doctors again and tell them about the lumps. You made the first step in going to the doctors, it’s on them now to do their job and help you.

  • Hi Bex2203, sorry to read your post about the multiple lumps you have near your breast tissue. It is such a worrying time for you.

A few thoughts. Do you have the NHS app up and working? If so you can log into your account on that. go to the GP consultations part, and see what they logged as an action when you saw them.

They often urgently refer under the two week wait suspected cancer pathway (although most referrals do not turn out to be cancer). Ideally people are then seen within two weeks, although lots of areas of the country have backlogs, I was seen in three weeks.

Another thing you can do is ring the hospital and ask to be put through either to the breast clinic appointments line, or to the imaging appointments line to try to find out when your appointment is. I did this when I hadn’t heard anything and was able to book my appointment that way,

The waiting is horrid, I hope you find out when your appointment is soon. Hugs xx
