Ovarian cancer concerns

Sorry in advance for the long post!

Since February 2023 I've been back and forth to the Dr's with, what I thought, we're digestive issues. 

I've had heartburn, not been able to eat as much as usual, and urgency to empty my bowels. I've been told to take antacids, told repeatedly it's IBS and even when I went to an out of hours appointment due to the stomach pain, sent home with omeprazole. 

In the last week, I've had swelling in my abdomenn and nausea after eating. I'm heavily bloated everywhere, when I'm barely eating.

Finally I went back to my GP and saw a Dr who was very helpful and investigative. She said straight away she'd like to book me in for an ultrasound scan of my ovaries and do a blood test for ovarian cancer. This is something that hadn't crossed my mind at all. I'm not booked in for tests until 11 days as we were due to go on a family break (where I am now) as I didn't want to let everyone down. I'm really anxious as I've read about ovarian cancer and I have many of the symptoms. I'm so scared and so physically uncomfortable, I'm not sure if I should go home and see if I can get tests earlier.

I'm so scared.

    It's good to hear you now have some tests booked in. I can understand your concerns about the wait for this, and I know the uncertainty is never easy to deal with.

    It is likely bringing the tests forward wouldn't make too much difference, but if you feel it would give you some peace of mind then you can always give the doctor a call to see what may be possible.

    Otherwise, try to focus on enjoying your break - keep busy and focus on things you enjoy where possible, to help take your mind off any worries. And when you're back, hopefully you'll be able to find out more soon.

    Hi I'm currently in this situation, I've had what I thought was digestive issues however I've had multiple procedures done and they can't find a cause, ive had a colonoscopy and an endoscopy and they have come back normal, I did have a stomach infection of h-pylori back in February was sent away with antibiotics and acid blockers, they never made a difference, they havent re checked me for thar so I'm non the wiser as to if I still have that, but my symptoms haven't got any better, I have lost 2 stone in weight unintentionally, I get constant abdominal pains, mainly situated on the left side, in my lower back and near my pelvic area, I'm forever nauseated, getting full to quickly, exhausted and bleeding from the front and back end, but I'm still non the wiser as to what is actually wrong, so I definitely understand you with this one! X
