Worried about lymphoma

Hi all. I have been experiencing some signs and symptoms which my research (and gut instinct) strongly suggest to me is lymphoma. I have had infrequent drenching night sweats over the past 6 months or so. My skin has been itchy, this started as an unleaving itchiness in my anal area but with no sign of a rash. My doctor said it was fungal but the fungal creams have not cleared it up, and I practice good hygiene. About 2 months ago a swollen lymph node appeared in my neck under my jaw, this has since been followed by three more pea sized lymph nodes in the neck. They are painless and malleable and have not changed in the past 2 months. The itchiness of my skin is now atopic. I have swollen veins in the shoulder, neck and head. My eyes are persistently bloodshot. I have suffered with fatigue for several months. I now have pulsatile tinnitus, which means I can hear my pulse in my ear. There is a heavy feeling in my head. I have had a blood test which was normal and a chest x ray which was normal. I told my gp I was not satisfied, but he has sent me away and said that I should return in three months if the lymph node has not gone down. I have now gone to a private ENT consultant who is going to do an ultrasound scan of the neck. I feel slightly confused and as though I can't think clearly. I want to gather my symptoms in one place in case I become incapacitated and incapable of reciting them in the near future. There is no sense of urgency from anyone at the moment which is understandable but I feel in my gut that something is wrong

  • Hi! I'm in a similar situation, swollen nodes in my neck, groin and elbow, currently waiting for biopsy results. As difficult as it can be (and I am rubbish at this), try to not let the worry and questioning over what it might be consume you too much. You do obviously have some symptoms of possible lymphoma, but they can also turn out to be lots of other things. You're on the right track to getting an ultrasound now which will in turn let you know if you need a biopsy. Put your faith in the doctors who see things like this every day. Ultrasounds on swollen lymph nodes are common but lymphoma diagnoses are rare. Try keeping a list of your symptoms as they come up, and once you've written them down try and put it out of your mind, as hard as that is! Hope your ultrasound goes well and gives you some reassurance.
