Help! Mole

Hello all,

I spent two days straight googling stuff and just though I would try and send a message here and see if someone can help.

I am 31 years old female and for about 4 years I've had a mole that has stayed roughly the same. But it's got two colours, a lighter brown and a darker brown. It's on my back. I haven't paid much attention to it for years but just looking at the mirror fre days ago I noticed it and starting to feel very nervous about it. I have a telephone appointment with my GP in two weeks so will discuss with him but has anyone had anything similar? The mole has been the same size for years I think and it's flat (not raisen) it's kind of inside my skin I don't know if it makes sense,. But I've had it for years. If anyone has any advice how to stop panicking please let me know as I haven't slept in 2 days

  • Hello Helliebellie

I'm sorry to hear that you're worried about a mole. It's good to know you've already arranged an appointment with your GP as they are the best person to check this for you and offer some reassurance.

We know that many people turn to the internet whilst waiting for appointments. Unfortunately what happens most often is that rather than finding answers and reassurance they are left with more questions and feeling anxious. Please try to avoid looking online as this is likely contributing to how you're feeling at the moment. Instead try to keep busy by distracting yourself with other things.

If you want to talk with one of our nurses you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm. I'm sure they will be happy to offer any support they can.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi,

Please don't Google, it only fuels anxiety and it's unreliable.

It's good that you have an appointment arranged. Your GP may arrange to see you or may ask you to email a photo of your mole. If it's always been 2 shades of brown and hasn't changed in any way it will hopefully be fine, but it's always best to get it checked out.

Good luck and please let us know how you get on
