can anyone help why I would be urgently referred to plastic surgeon? I have something growing under my eye lid the eye hospital was sent photos of it and requested the referral was done, but nothing been explained or what they think
I am sorry to hear that none of yopur care team have explaioned the reason for this. It is impossible to say why you have been referred, without knowing all of your symptoms and medical history.
I can only tell you my experience. I had a small mole just under my eye a few years ago. My dermatologist referred me to a plastic surgeon, under the urgent pathway. This was because the skin in this area is very thin and they needed to take a biopsy of the lesion. The plastic surgeon made a really neat job of doing this and inserted tiny stitches into the crease at the side of my nose. I had these removed the following week and you would never notice that anything had been done. The tissue was duly sent to Pathology for testing and fortunately, the result came back clear.

thank you for replying, I'm just so worried because it is literally in the middle of my eye lid and quite high up, did they do your biopsy on your first appointment and is it a fast process? my nan had skin cancer a few year ago so it's in the family.
I sent in a photo first, then was seen by the dermatologist and was referred by her, to the plastic surgeon. I saw him a few weeks later and he removed the mole under my eye and another on the inside of my ankle on the first visit. Fortunately, both were clear, as I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer in the past 14 years.
Here's hoping that yours will be easier to remove, as it is superficial. I think that it took about an hour in all to have both procedures done.
was you put asleep for tbe biopsy? I think I couldn't be awake with where it is,
how long did you wait for your appointment? And how long to know if it was clear? I've been told o should be seen within 2 weeks but we go away in 3 weeks so don't want a massive black eye when we go but also don't wana delay it.
I wasn't put to .sleep. I just had a local anaesthetic. There was absolutely no problem with this. I think that I waited about 3 weeks for my referral. I took Arnica tablets immediately after surgery and had no sign of any bruising at all.
