Several small bright red flush spots? About 2-5mm in size?

Hello :-)

I really hope I'm not wasting anyone's time here and I don't necessarily think this is anything alarming. I don't have health anxiety, I feel like I'm probably absolutely fine but thought I'd reach out as I know the likes of skin cancers can appear in various ways and not sure if I should pursue this with my GP. I've had various checks this year and just don't want to come across as a hypochondriac. I'm a 27 year old female and fairly fit and well I'd say, I try to keep active, don't really drink, etc.

I have a few tiny pin point red spots in various areas of my body - completely flush to the skin. The one's on my legs and arms are hardly visible, they're so small. It's like someone's taken a red ballpoint pen and just dotted around my legs and arms. However, I also have one on my breast but this one is more 4-5mm and when I've taken a photo on my phone, I can see there's almost lots of small red spots of different shapes together but again, completely flush to the skin, no irritation whatsoever. I also have one on my stomach and top of my arm that're abit more noticeable than those on the rest of my legs/arms. It's a shame I can't upload a picture as I find it quite hard to explain. The larger ones almost look like bright red freckles at a glance I guess but like I say, when looking super closely there's sort of a small cluster of red spots.

I've had a few other symptoms this year and had a number of tests. I've had on-going headaches, muscle aches particularly on the left side of my body and on-going dizziness/lightheaded spells. I do have low iron and take daily tablets for this and they've helped my headaches but not the muscle aches/dizziness. The doctor was mostly focused on my headaches, so sent me for an MRI of the brain (I think she was worried about a potential bleed) which showed some abnormalities but nothing of concern. My bloods for most of the year have been coming back with raised platelet counts but I have also been (what feels like) catching every flu/bug/virus under the sun this year every few weeks (I have a daughter who's nearly 2 and goes to a childminders, so to be expected really and we plod on). I then just put down my symptoms to lingering on-going viruses or something like that, hoping with the summer months they'd improve. I know being unwell generally can cause high platelet counts so again, not thought a lot of it.

I've done the standard Google and I can't see much that these red marks/spots look similar to if I'm honest. My GP always asks 'is there anything you're concerned it could be?' and I don't have a clue to be honest. Maybe petechiae but it feels unlikely given that they're sporadically across my body and not several noticeable clustered together. It also doesn't look to me like cherry angioma.

I really don't want to waste anyone's time and not even sure this is the right place to post, so I do apologise. I think given the recent weather change it's just got me thinking about protecting my skin, the likes of skin cancers, etc.

Any guidance or help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

T x

  • Hello tcox151021

I'm sorry to hear that you've had some ongoing health concerns over the past few months and that you're now worried about some skin changes that you've recently noticed.

Unfortunately, no one here will be bale to tell you what these red dots are and the best person to discuss these concerns with would be your GP.

Hopefully, you're able to make an appointment and the GP can offer you some reassurance.

    Best wishes,
