Lymphoma scare

My husband now 29 had a core biopsy of an inguinal lymph node back in January after incidental findings of enlarged lymph nodes on a renal CT scan.

The biopsy results came back as reactive changes.  However since his biopsy in January, he developed enlarged lymph nodes on the right side of the neck.  One of them being clearly visible as a lump.

We pushed for an ultrasound and another referral after which the kind consultant said that he does think that lymphoma was missed and now he has referred him for urgent surgery to remove the entire lymph node in the neck and send it for further testing.

Really scared as his LDH levels are 383, has anyone else been in a similar position and had reactive lymph nodes and not lymphoma?

  • Hello Ana1994

I'm sorry to hear that your husband has had some ongoing health concerns and that despite initial biopsy results that didn't raise any concerns he is now facing a possible diagnosis of lymphoma. It's understandable that you're feeling scared and anxious about the future.

Hopefully the upcoming surgery and the results that will follow will bring some positive news for you both and the Consultant will be able to offer you some reassurance about the next steps.

Hopefully if we've any members who have experience with this diagnosis they will post to share their stories with you but in the meantime I wanted to give you the link to a charity called Lymphoma Action where you certainly will be able to connect with others who have experience with lymphoma.

If you'd like to chat with one of our nurses at any point you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm. I'm sure they will be happy to offer any advice and support they can.

Do keep in touch and let us know how you both get on.

    Best wishes,
