Large ovarian cyst and raised CA125

Hi,

 

I'm 31, 1 child and relatively fit and healthy. Been having pelvic pain on and off for a while that I thought was linked to my menstrual cycle. Recently my abdomen has swollen and is incredibly painful. It turns out I have a large cyst (15 x 15) on my right ovary and my CA125 is raised at 173. Currently waiting for gynae appointment and very worried. Came on here looking for some relatable stories but many are never followed through to the end to know whether the results were cancerous or not. If anyone has a conclusion that they could share, including their CA125 levels, I'd be really grateful.

    I'm sorry to hear about all the symptoms you've experiencing lately. It's understandable that you're worried while waiting for your next appointment but I'm glad you're having this situation investigated.

    Thought I would share my similarity with yourself. I am pre-menopause and fit and healthy. I have a raised CA125 at 141 and a large endometrioma cyst on my right ovary.

    I've had several tests/biopsies and scans in which they were trying to find a relative reason for the raised CA125 but everything has come back clear apart from the Suspected endometrioma cyst.

    I was referred to MDT and they have decided I need a total hysterectomy, I've had a 2nd CA125 which has still come back raised so they want to remove everything as a precaution thinking there may be cancer within the cyst which they will not know until its removed and biopsied. 

    I'm older than you at 46 and not wanting anymore children. 

    I should think after my hysterectomy they will do a repeat CA125 again.
