Stressing Out!

Hi all,

i would be grateful for a bit of reassurance from anyone who has been in a similar situation....had endometrial biopsies about 10 days ago. Hospital confirmed results were back last week and letter prepped but consultant needed to check. Was told I wouldnt be told anything over the phone in any event. No results yet but had a text today to say I am on the waiting list for surgery and will get a pre-op date soon and got home from work to a letter with a pre-op date next week! I still dont know what my results are.....am I stressing unnecessarily? The consultant and I discussed a hysterectomy in any event but I was on the understanding that we would decide post-results. Im just wondering if this is normal procedure aiI guess. Thanks in advance ladies x

  • I'm waiting for biopsy results...my womb biopsy was clear thankfully but polyps were removed and sent for biopsy 6 weeks ago, the results are back and have been with the consultant for 2 weeks but I still have no idea what they are..my anxiety is through the roof...secretary said I have to be discussed at MDT meeting, Google brings up cancer for every result where MDT is mentioned but Secretary said all results go there, I don't believe her...the waiting is horrendous...when I went through similar 4 years ago I wasn't kept waiting this long..

it could quite simply be for you that they found some polyps which need removing, I had to have my first lot done under a general because of where they were, this time round they were removed during a hysteroscopy..have you checked with your GP to see if they can tell you anything?

  • Hi,

I have been in a similar situation to you.

I have had a couple of endometrial biopsies along with other tests. The only conversation amongst the tests I've had with consultant was 1 consultant appointment and consultant stressed the need for surgery but not sure at that point what surgery as still undergoing investigations.

Fast track a couple of weeks and various tests etc I had a letter from MDT Gynae Oncology, I was not even told it had gone to oncology, and MDT recommends Total Abdominal Hysterectomy with Bilateral removal of ovaries and fallopian tubes, a repeat CA125 and Omental biopsy. My letter also says I've been added to the waiting list even though this has not been discussed with me.

I have no idea what any of my results are apart from ultrasound which has picked up a suspected endometrioma and that CT has confirmed this has grown another 2cm (now 8cm). I also know my CA125 several weeks ago was high at 141.

Apart from that I'm pretty much in the dark and not had a lot communicated to me.

Do you have a follow up with your consultant?

I have a follow up tomorrow which I'm absolutely bricking and trying to write down questions but a bit mind blank.

Hope you get some answers/correspondence soon and a follow up with consultant, I would of thought that was needed at least.

    Take care

  • Hi, thanks for the advice - I called my GP surgery and they've scheduled me for a GP call so hopefully will shed some light

I really hope you get some news soon x

  • Its all so overwhelming and confusing isnt it? No follow up appointment as yet - hoping isomething comes soon, or the GP can clarify it for me xx

I hope your appointment goes ok, writing questions down is a great idea x

  • I've just had a phone call with a face to face appointment next Tuesday, so I know now it's definitely bad news, as all my other results have been by letter...dreading it and I'm so upset now

  • Try to stay positive lovely, I know its easier said than done x

  • Thankyou for your reply.

I hope you get a response from your GP soon. Knowing something no matter how little is better than not knowing anything at all x

  • Oh I feel for you.
Had hysteroscopy three weeks told would hear in 2 weeks but didn't. So called a results line and she told me unsampled areas , squamous moreules(don't know spelling) and that there were no atypical hyperplasia on endometrium but uterus volume was increased and had hyperplastic lesions with atypical and squamous morules . She said she didn't understand as a few times it said unsampled.
I was told consultant would call today at 3.30 so I was hoping I'd get some idea of what it meant. All I got was there's precancerous cells and need a biopsy under ga (I was told this last week )and then a hysterectomy. How did she get to the conclusion without knowing biopsy results. It was stressful waiting a week for this and feel it added nothing. I will get a date for next biopsy tomorrow.. I'm sick of waiting too

  • Kicked up fuss, Secretary got nurse to ring me and although not totally good news it’s not as bad as it could be..

atypical endometrial hyperplasia, so pre cancerous cells found in one or more polyp..

Appointment will discuss treatment, possible hysterectomy, maybe coil to stop things getting worse if hysterectomy not possible at current time due to being a fat cow…

    And breathe…….

  • I'm so pleased you got some answers xx
