suspected endometrial cancer

Hi everyone

This is my first post as my journey has just started.  I have had issues with heavy periods and abnormal smears for most of my life.  I have had various tests, ultrasounds etc over the past 12 months and my GP sent an urgent referral for suspected endometrial cancer. I had my first appointment yesterday with a gynaecology oncology consultant who referred me for an urgent biopsy of the womb which I was fortunate enough to have yesterday (due to a cancellation). I am now anxiously awaiting my results.  He was unsure if it is endometrial cancer or a failed endometrial ablation which I had in 2017.  My symtoms are irrecgular bleeding, clotting, bloating, pelvic pain and a few other symptoms.  He did mention a hysterectomy either way.  Is there anyone else in the same situation?  I am really worried, losing sleep, can't think of anything else but realis it's also out of my control.  Thanks in advance x

  • It's a very hard time the waiting and not knowing the not being able to concentrate on anything, the worry always at the back of your mind it took about 2 weeks for my biopsy to come back, I too had a history of bleeding and very heavy prolonged periods. I was lucky they caught mine early and I have being cancer free for 2 years. I had a total hysterectomy including my ovarys removed, I did not need any more treatment, but I could not have HRT, so I have some tablets for the night sweats, it's a little hard battling paranoia worrying about it coming back, it does get better the more time goes by, if you have any questions please ask away. I hope all goes ok for you, best of luck.

  • Hi thank you so much for your reply. So pleased you are cancer free. Very reassuring words from you. Really appreciate your help and advice.  Take care x

  • I'm still waiting for my biopsy results for polyps which were removed 5 weeks ago :(

The results are with the consultant whose on holiday and Secretary says I've not yet been discussed at the MDT meeting which is freaking me out now as googling MDT meetings just brings upbresukt after result saying they are to discuss cancer so now I'm terrified but have to wait at least another week before I'm told anything.

I hope you don't have to wait as long for your results and I hope they are nothing serious when you get them x

  • Hi thanks for your reply. I hope you are able to find out your results soon and are able to put your mind at rest and move forward with whatever the next stage is for you. 5 weeks is a long time without an answer. Hoping I don't have to wait that long. I am as bad googling everything which makes me worse. I am trying put my worries aside but it's so hard isn't it? Let me know how you get on. Take care xx

  • The secretary said I should know my results by the end of next week, I will let you know, previous biopsy results have usually got to me within 3 weeks (I had this same PMB back in 2019 so had all the worry then as well) hopefully you won't have to wait too long x
