  • Hello Mia_96

I'm sorry to hear that you've recently been given a raised CA125 level. It's understandable that you may be feeling anxious about what has caused this raised result.

Whilst a CA125 test can be used as part of the diagnostic process for ovarian cancer it's important to know, and keep in mind, that there are other conditions that can cause a raised result such as endometriosis, PID, and pregnancy.

We have another member [@Ella10923]‍ who also posted here this week with a raised CA125 level and is awaiting a two-week wait referral appointment. I've tagged her in my reply so that you may be able to chat and support each other.

I hope that your appointment brings some reassuring news.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi,

I also am going through this. I have raised ca125 ranging from 50-95 but have had clear ultrasound and normal CT scan. Did you ever find any answers to why yours were raised. Im very worried and 26 years old also.

  • Hi, I had a raised CA125 a while ago, it was in the 70s, I  was referred for an ultrasound which came back clear. Over time my CA125 has returned to normal levels (still higher than the first time I had it checked but it's gone in the right direction) I was told that, particularly in younger women, it does not always indicate ovarian cancer and that it is just showing signs of inflammation. I have always had really heavy periods except when on hormonal contraception and had gone through a phase of bleeding almost constantly for a few months before I got my first raised result. It's good that they have referred you and that they're checking but try not to panic too much until you know more. Sending hugs xx

  • Hi, thank you so much for your reply. I’m glad your levels have reduced, have they gone back to normal levels below 35?

Mines have been fluctuating between 51-95 now for 9 months. My most recent was 51,it seems to be at its peak during menstruation and don’t seem to be continuously rising. I am reassured by my clear scans however my gynae said if the levels are still raised in 3 months, she may have to do a diagnostic laparoscopy with biopsy. I have seen so many other people on here have clear scans and that be it so I’m quite scared about what she is expecting to find. This has been going on for almost a year now for me and I have been in some very dark places, still am.

Thanks again for replying and I hope all is now well with you xx

  • Hiya,

Yes mine have gone down to about 32 at my last test. I'm currently awaiting a breast clinic appointment though so I feel like I'm bouncing from one thing to another, so stressful.

I was told that it could be caused by things like endometriosis - sounds like that could be something she is looking for and maybe the biopsy is just to be on the safe side?

Really hope you get some answers soon I know how worrying it can be.

    Xx

  • I too was at the breast clinic, I know how stressful that can be, it feels like once you get one clear scan they bounce you on to a different possibility and it’s just terrifying. Thankfully my breast scan was clear I just have some very fibrocystic tissue.

im so glad your levels are below 35, it must be such a relief. My levels were never low to begin with, around 5 years ago (21 at the time ) I had them tested and they came back at 35, so just on the edge. I feel like it may just have been gradually creeping up since then, so endometriosis may explain this and it has been mentioned, I’m hoping that’s what she is looking for if all other scans are clear.

sending you lots of support for your breast clinic appointment!xx

  • Aw thank you so much, just such a scary time so appreciate the thought from someone who's been through it too!

Really hope your scans give you some answers, endometriosis definitely sounds like a possibility but I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. Wishing you all the best xx

  • Hi

i really hope everything went OK for you.

I’d be really interested to see how a raised CA125 went for people and what it meant as I am 34 and have recently been told I have a CA125 of 49. I am awaiting an ultrasound next month. I have been beside myself.

  • Hi how did your ultrasound go? I have had a call from the GP today saying my CA125 has come back slightly elevated at 41. I have been asked to retest next week (which currently feels like an eternity away) and I’m now awaiting an ultrasound scan.

I hope your outcome was as positive one xx
