Melanoma 1A

Hi;

I am looking for some advice please?
I had the all clear from stage 1A melanoma in Feb, it was a mole removed from my right shoulder. Over I'd say, the last two weeks I've had what started as a dull aching pain in my right breast. The pain is now at the point where I've rang 111, I cannot even hold the kettle as is under my arm and at the top of the breast. There is no lump that I can tell or feel, no change just the pain it feels like a bruise is being pressed. It's making me feel unwell and I'm so, so tired.

Could it be related to the melanoma or something else? It's always where my mind goes first now. I've an out of hours appointment this afternoon I'm really worried.

  • Please get that checked asap as my mun had the same 10 years ago on the left arm and she was diagnosed 2 months ago with stage 4 melanoma cancer is very bad she was followed for a few years and then stoped it, but now we can see all the signs she had a long ago tickle on her throat that wouldn,t go away afterv that the pain came especially her back and would move around to the chest and arm, she complain from pain on her arm a long time she went to doctor did exams nothing always nothing, until 2 months ago the bump was found on the same arm, very painful to but by this time she already had this lumps on the lymphnodes,bones and lungs and possibly more after this biopsy results come, is terrible news and could,ve been caught earlier if they did the righ exames so please... be firm explain your history and ask for the rigth exames dont let it get to late like my mum, if only we knew before.

  • Hi,

    It's natural to think that a new pain may be connected to your melanoma diagnosis although in most cases it's found to be caused by a different problem. You need to get it checked out for your peace of mind so it's good you have an appointment this afternoon. Hopefully they will refer you to get it checked out and it's found not to be linked to melanoma. Good luck and please let us know how you get on.

  • UPDATE: dr gave me an exam (it was so painful I cried). She said that she could feel a lump and doesn't think it is an abscess or cyst.

    She said that she will write to my own GP about referral to breast clinic (she can't do it as they're an out of hours service) because of my medical history she cannot rule out breast cancer and the only thing that she could do at this time is prescribe codeine for my pain. I have cried all afternoon, I'm on so much pain with it, does anyone know if my skin cancer nurse can help with the referral or does it have to go through my GP as advised?

    thanks,

    Jenna

  • Hi Jenna,

    I know it's not what you wanted to hear but it's good that you are being referred to get to the bottom of it.

    If you are still under dermatology it's a good idea to contact your specialist nurse. They need to know what is happening as they may be able to liaise with the breast clinic but I think it's your GP that needs to make the referral. This is because it may have no connection to your melanoma so at the moment it will be treated as a separate referral.

    I wish I could help to ease your worries at the moment. Hopefully your GP will get a referral started and you won't have long to wait . Ring your specialist nurse on Tuesday and hopefully they can help whilst you are waiting. Good luck and please let us know how you get on,

    Angie xx
