Missing adult teeth and ovarian cancer

Hi, I read a while back some interesting studies about the possible genetic link between missing adult teeth (hypodontia), specifically epithelial ovarian cancer. Is this something to take seriously? After all it's a convenient external expression of this genetic trait but when I mention it in passing to doctors they are of course dismissive. Has anyone else looked at these studies? What's your take on it?

At the moment I'm struggling with abdominal pain during exercise, I find bench presses impossible as I freeze in pain as my lower left pelvic area hurts and freezes up, I struggle to get up (but my back is fine). This left ovary has always been problematic, firstly I had an endometrioma removed from it in my 20s, now it seems to be stuck in a way that it can't always be found on an ultrasound and it hurts to press now on that side. I had a rather unsatisfactory scan at a private ultrasound clinic where it hurt too much to try and find it, they seemed to think I now have adenomyosis. I also have a lump on my left side but that feels directly below by Caesarian scar (10 years old), not sure if it's a small hernia. Basically 2 laparoscopies, 2 Caesarians and 1 cholecystectomy later I have a lot of aches, bloating and diarrhoea but each individual symptom could be explained away but I'm really starting to wonder. My age too (46) means that my irregular and missing periods can also be explained away but I am starting to worry about the risk of ovarian cancer. I know I don't have the Brac genes, I have a missing adult tooth and the only female cancer in my family was my paternal grandmother (my uncle had bowel cancer but my Dad and his sister were not cancer people).

  • Hi, I have 2 missing adult teeth, I had baby teeth one of which I still have but the other now has a gap.

I hadn't heard of this link with ovarian cancer before but have been reading about it since seeing your post.

I have an appointment with my gynae doctor due to fibroids in a couple of weeks, he refused me a hysterectomy but I'm now going to fight for one.
