Worried - Ovarian Cancer Symptoms?

Hello all,

I have had a tight feeling in my lower abdomen that gets worse when I eat and is constantly there. This was along with a feeling of pressure in my pelvic area that sometimes feel like shooting pains. I went to the GP and did a stool test and blood test on my ovaries (as the GP said) and both came back normal. I've been to the gynaecologist who diagnosed me with PID and waved me off with antibiotics.

The symptoms, especially the tight feeling and pressure in my lower abdomen has not cleared up and I am absolutely terrified it could be ovarian cancer. I have contacted my GP again and was told I need a scan and to wait for a referral in the post. I don't know what to do going forward, I feel so helpless and lost because nothing I do relieves the pressure and my health anxiety is at an all time high. Any advice? Thank you

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat, LeaK.

I'm sorry to hear about the distress you're experiencing. We have many others here who will understand how you are feeling at the moment and I hope some of them will be along shortly to chat with you.

While waiting for the scan and referral, it can be helpful to engage in self-care practices to manage your anxiety and promote overall well-being.

Also, it's important to maintain open communication with your healthcare provider. If your symptoms persist or worsen, inform your GP about your concerns and any changes you've noticed, they can provide guidance and reassurance while waiting for the scan.

Take care of yourself and reach out to your healthcare provider for any further questions or concerns.
