Question about CT scan results

Hi,

I received a 2 WW referral due to some symptoms I've been suffering with for a while. I had a CT scan on Sunday and they told me it's looking at about 3-4 weeks to get results back.

I just wanted to ask, if they found anything on my scan would they let me know earlier or would it still be the 3-4 weeks like they have said?

Thank you in advance. Just feeling a little worried and alone.

    It is possible you could find out earlier than this - that timescale is a guide, based on current waiting lists and also the general time it takes for them to go through the necessary processes, as well as finding an appropriate appointment time for you to receive the results.

    I know the uncertainty and waiting for more information is never easy. Try to take things a day at a time and keep busy while you wait, to help with keeping your mind off any worries.

    I am sure you are feeling worried, but try to put it out of your mind for periods, maybe some meditation if you can.

    I cannot speak for all cases, but when I was sent for an MRI by GP to check the cause of constant back pain, that was about 8pm on the Wednesday evening. Friday morning my GP phoned me to tell me tumours had been found.

    So I would say if something is found in your case which requires a faster follow up, you would likely hear quicker.

    Good luck that there is nothing to be concerned about found.
