First Appointment Tomorrow

Hi all, I found a lump in my left breast last week. I am 36f and this is the first lump I have found. I have found this forum so helpful, so decided to join. The doc said she didn't think it was a sinister lump, and she said if she thought it was, she would say and I believe her. I think based on symptoms it is either fibrocystic or fibroadenoma. At first, I thought the pain was actually a muscle strain, but then it was worse after I was in a car accident in January. When I went to the doc, she is the one who found the lump. It seems like it moves and it gets really quite sore, particularly towards the end of the day. I have also started getting pins and needles in my left arm.

My appointment came round so fast, and I am so grateful. But naturally, I am now starting to worry and panic, but I guess this is normal and expected. I am not sure what I am wanting from posting this, perhaps just to let it all out? I haven't told my Mum yet until we know it is going on as she doesn't need the added worry - she was burgled last week and my Dad passed away just 6 months ago.

I have made a note of any family history, and all symptoms in case I forget any. Thanks for reading, I would love to hear from anyone who has been in a similar position.

  • That's great news to hear. I'm tentatively waitimg my for my first appointment on 23rd x

  • I had my first appointment at the Breast Clinic last week after finding a lump in my left breast. I had a mammogram, Ultrasound and biopsy. They said it was a suspicious lump. I'm 42 and this is the first lump I have found.

I have been waiting worried sick, and got a call yesterday to ask me to go back to the clinic tomorrow.  Is this a good or a bad thing that they want to see me so soon?  Help!!

  • Hi there

I hope you don't mind me replying, I just wanted to offer some support and encouragement to you at such a stressful time.

I am 37 and went to the clinic in 29th April, where they told me that the lump was 'large and irregular' and then decided to scan and biopsy it. I was told that I had to go back on 9th May, which was quite fast given the two bank holidays in between. I was terrified that there was something sinister, given the speed of the results appointment and the tone of the consultant at the initial appointment.

I saw the consultant last week who told me that the biopsy showed that the lump was a Fibroadenoma, but that it's large and needs to be removed. I've now been booked in for an excision on 8th June.

The waiting is most definitely the worst part, I know I'm very lucky but just wanted to reassure you that it's not always bad news. I'll be thinking of you tomorrow and wish you lots of luck xx
