Reddish lump on manubrium

Hi,

I'm a nineteen year old girl and for the past year I've noticed a sort of red flat lump on my upper chest, aka the manubrium as I believe it's called. Initially I just thought it was upper chest acne, but as other sores have cleared up this has remained for well over a year. I've never thought much of it because I've never had any other symptoms, but I think really I've just been scared. It's not exactly notable, it's slightly red and looks flat however it feels hardish to the touch. It hurts if I properly squeeze it, however nothing ever comes out- instead it just feels bigger when I do that though it does go down again. I can also move it, like if I pull my skin the lump will move with it.

I'm just so paranoid. Like I said I've had no other symptoms, I feel healthy etc. It's just  I've had the lump on my mind and I've gone down a rabbit hole on google and with it being red coloured I'm not getting much positive feedback. :/

  • Welcome to our forum Aimee although I'm sorry to hear about this lump you've found on your chest.

It's always a bit unnerving finding unexpected lumps, especially when there's no reason for them to be there. As you're worried, it may be worth booking an appointment with your GP as they'll be able to take a look at it for you and let you know if it's any cause for concern. Hopefully that won't be the case but it's always good to get things like this checked out, if only for peace of mind.

Many of our members have been in similar situations so will definitely understand what you're going through at the moment and hopefully some of them will be along soon to offer their support and advice.

    Kind regards,
