Lump but not showing on MRI

Hello.

April I saw the gp who found a lump in the wall of the vagina. And he referred me on the 2 week wait.
My first appointment with a gynae, was interesting to say the least. He was very dismissive, mainly to being under 35, he did say that it couldn't be any thing serious because of that.
When he done the examination, he had a quick look, and said the cervix looked healthy. But that isn't whrre the lump is. Then he felt the lump and sounded very surprised that there actually was one.
I had the MRI less than 4 days later. On this there was no lump. So the gynae, has written a letter to discharge me.
The lump is still there. No follow up to check etc.
What should I do?

  • Hi Fairz,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I can understand that this sounds a little confusing and I can imagine you have questions about this. The first and best thing would be to discuss the results with your doctor, in particular the discrepancy between feeling the lump and the scan not showing anything. If they are unable to explain it then you can see what they suggest in regard to getting some answers about it.

You are also welcome to give our nurses a call if you would like to talk things through. You can reach them on freephone 0808 800 4040 - Monday-Friday, 9-5.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
