Cancer scare

Hi. I have a vaginal prolapse that I've had for a good few years since having my first child 8 years ago. I'm 29 years old.
Sex became uncomfortable so I went to the doctors thinking it was just the prolapse becoming worse . She dr examined me and she said she has found something strange and doing and urgent referral to gyne. I'm besides myself with worry. It seems like an ulcerated patch , a bit deep but not too much. I haven't noticed it before now. And hasn't caused me any problems. Seeing gyne next week. Just wondering if anyone has ever had anything like this before.

  • Hello Emhow13 and a warm welcome to Cancer Chat,

I just wanted to welcome you to our forum. It won't be long now until you see the gynaecology specialist next week. I can imagine it must be a very stressful time for you while you are waiting to find out more. You did well to go and see the doctor though when you noticed that sex had become uncomfortable and it's good that they were thorough and examined you and have referred you to be seen and it's great that you don't need to wait long now to get some clarity on this.

I know it is really hard but try not to worry too much or anticipate what it might be as there are so many things it could be other than cancer. The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this is to keep busy and distracted if you can and avoid looking things up online as Dr Google is famously unreliable and will only make you worry even more. I can imagine it is hard for you to do this at the moment but it will help you feel a little less anxious.

I hope you will also hear from others here who have had similar symptoms and had this type of ulcerated patch investigated and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,
