It is such a scary time and no one can say for sure what symptoms mean until they are investigated. I had cancer that hadn't formed into a lump, others have had lumps which weren't cancerous. Most people referred don't get a cancer diagnosis. 

I rang the hospital switchboard a week after GP had referred me as I hadn't heard anything by then. They were able to tell me when my appointment would be.

The breast clinic I went to went see the consultant, have a mammogram, have an ultrasound, and then back to the consultant. They were all lovely.

Unfortunately there is a lot of waiting. I hope you hear something soon about your appointment. Sending you a hug, x

Hi PlantLeaf, welcome! I'd echo what reallyscared says - worth a follow-up phone call and getting everything checked out. The majority of referrals turn out to be nothing sinister as so many of the threads on this forum testify to but we still worry! Hope all goes well at the clinic xxx

I rang the clinic to chase up my appointment (following a reply I had on this forum ) and they made one while I was on the phone. I have to wait until 23rd May but just thankful I've now got a date. My doctor made the referral on 3rd May.

Hi everyone, 

I am waiting for my results after finding a lump in my left breast. I was seen quickly by the GP and referred under the 2ww. 

Saw the doctor at the hospital last week.  I also had a mammogram, Ultrasound and they also took a biopsy. They said it was a suspicious lump. They told me it would take 2-3 weeks for results,  but I got a call yesterday asking me to go tomorrow afternoon for my results. I am scared  is this a bad thing that they want to see me so soon?

Sorry to read of your 2WD referral. Such a scary time.

I think it is a good thing that they want to see you tomorrow, whether it turns out to be good or bad news. There is so much waiting and really I think we'd rather all know whatever they have to tell us as soon as.

I had my appointment yesterday and was told that I have cancer in my left breast.  

I am still in shock.  Trying to get my head around it. I need surgery to remove the lump. There is so much info given to me as well.

I am so, so sorry to read your post. No matter how much you half expect them to give you bad news it is still just dreadful if they do. I understand entirely, I was in the same situtation just two months ago. There are many others here too with the same, or similar, experiences. Their posts helped me when I felt my world had fallen apart.

Looking for a positive, I have been so very impressed with the speed of a treatment plan being put into place, and the care which everyone I have come into contact with has given to me. Their confidence helped me trust their judgements. There is a lot of waiting in the process, but a lot will probably happen quickly for you now.

Thank you so much to everyone who suggested calling them up! After not hearing anything for two weeks I gave them a call and I now have an appointment for the 8th June! It unfortunately means even more waiting but atleast I now have a date :)
