Endometrial cancer worried

Hi

I had DCIS 5 years ago and have been on Tamoxifen since. I'm post menapausal for 5 years now. I've been getting period pains but no bleeding that have increased in frequency and severity over past few months.

Went to GP who said stomach was distended and booked me into a trans vaginal scan.
had the scan and next day got called that they would put me on 2 week pathway. I had a hysteroscopy on Tuesday morning and doctor said endometrium is thickened and uterus is slightly enlarged. She has sent off for biopsies.
do u think it's good news? I haven't heard from hospital yet. But when I got breast cancer I was getting calls for more tests etc the very next day ..

cancer is horrible. I'm hating it cos my life has once again taken a binary focus and I'm struggling to focus on anything else. By binary it's like yes you have or no you don't and there is nothing to do.
I was infertile and yearned for a child the irony is I never used my breast or uterus and now I'm here..

sorty for the rant but it's just hard waiting.

  • Hello rks and a warm welcome to Cancer Chat,

You did well to go to the GP to get this checked. Waiting for results is the hardest thing and it's difficult to tell really whether it means anything that you haven't heard back from the hospital yet. I hope you find out more soon as there is nothing worse than waiting and feeling like the wait is endless and that you are not getting any answers. There are helpful tips on this page to help you cope while waiting for important news.

I noticed there were other ladies in a similar situation to you who posted only a few days ago and were also worried about endometrial cancer and had had similar tests and biopsies so it may be helpful for you to talk to others who are currently going through this wait too and who have, like you, also been told that they had a thickened endometrium. I thought I would mention [@Lynnieee68]‍'s thread on this page and don't hesitate to respond to her if you wish.

It must be really hard for you to be going through this when you already had DCIS and I hope that you will find out more soon and that it turns out to be nothing of concern.

    Best wishes,
