Pain at site of where core biopsy was taken

Hi ! So I had a core biopsy about a month and a bit ago.  Ultrasound too and I have like fibroadenoma.  They recently referred me back to gp unless it grows or symptoms get worse to be re referred back to them then maybe referal.  However the problem I am having now is having sharp stabbing pain on that site for numerous of weeks co codamol only takes edge of but then keeps coming back.  And diclofenac only helps for a bit but not much.  I now rang my gp to get an appointment and they will call me back maybe next week . The pain is so sore sometimes keeps me awake.    I been trying to ignore it but since it's keeps coming back and not getting better am clueless on what to do right now ?  It seems a bit odd if my gp would have to re refer me back to their clinic again .  It's like sharp stabbing pain on that side where it is.  Also when I do sports like swimming I notice it aswell it comes.   Should I just ignore it ?

  • Hi Starfish,

I am glad to hear that your diagnosis was a fibroadenoma and nothing more sinister. I am sorry to hear that you are still having breast pain after your biopsy. It is early days yet. I had pain in my breast for several months after biopsy. It gradually became less frequent. Pain does not usually accompany cancer. Most breast cancers tend to be painless, which is why they can be so easily overlooked.

I am not a doctor, but I suspect that this may be something for your GP to manage, until it settles. Your GP will probably only re-refer you, if s/he felt that the fibroadenoma, was changing in any way. It is certainly worth mentioning to your GP to see if s/he can do anything to help.

I hope that it settles for you soon.

Please let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
