2 clear colonoscopies but still bleeding and stomach pain

Hi everyone,

i hope I can find some answers here as I have been driving myself crazy with anxiety.

Following visible blood in my stools + a positive FIT test in July 2022, I was referred for a colonoscopy at the end of August which came back negative appart from a few hyperplastic polyps and small 1st degree internal haemorrhoids. The bleeding continued and stomach pains, loss of apetite and nausea came on top, I asked my GP to be referred back which they refused as they said my colonoscopy was clear so there was no need for more tests.
I ended up going private to HCA and did another colonoscopy & endoscopy privately in November which also were clear.

I've also had an abdominal MRI in November which showed nothing and a capsule endoscopy in March to check the small bowels.

Since then the bleeding increased to nearly every bowel movement, I now have constant stomach pain and I'm extremely tired all the time along with crazy night sweats. Im not constipated or strain so I'm a bit loss for explanation.

I went to a proctologist to get the internal haemorrhoids lasered in a hope that it would stop the bleeding but that hasn't worked.

I feel like I've done every exam I could do? Should I push for another colonoscopy since it's been 6 months since the last one?

I've read really worrying medical studies about Post Colonoscopy Colorectal Cancer that can appear in the interval between 2 tests...

If anyone has any suggestions on what should I do next as Im going insane and extremely depressed about all of this..

  • Hi Coco87,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. It sounds like you're having a tough time getting answers and understanding regarding these symptoms and I can understand this is difficult.

Usually we would suggest the possibility of seeking a second opinion from a different doctor, but you have already done this. Hopefully some reassurance can be taken from the clear results but I appreciate this doesn't help in terms of getting relief from the symptoms.

If it has been a while and your symptoms are continuing, the only thing really is to try to speak to the GP again, noting any changes or continuations since last time, and explaining that you feel you need some answers as to what is going on.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
