Mole removal worries...

Hi

I've just been referred on the 2WW pathway for a mole that is oozing a bit and hurts when I press it. I've had it as long as I can remember and it was checked 8 years ago, the dr said it looked fine. It got knocked by my backpack while I was hiking a few weeks ago and has changed size and shape so I'm feeling really worried now. I think it's been changing for a while but I didn't get it checked. My appt is on May 17th.

I know statistically it should be fine, but I think I'm just looking for a bit of support as it just doesn't feel right.

  • Hi,

Moles can be aggravated if caught, scratched etc so hopefully that's what's happened to yours. However, it's good that you have a dermatology appointment arranged and that you don't have to wait too long. Hopefully the consultant will be able to say that it looks fine through the dermascope but don't panic if they say it needs a biopsy to make sure they have a correct diagnosis. There is a chance it could be precancerous (dysplastic) so would need removing anyway. Good luck and please let us know how you get on.

  • Thanks Angie, you've helped put my mind at ease, I foolishly Googled it and got myself in to a spin! I'll let you know the outcome x
