2ww gynae worried about plan

I'm trying to be really positive and stay occupied. A few weeks ago I had a CA125 which came back with score 141, I also had 2 seperate USS 5 days apart, 1st one did not visualise my left ovary but both scans have shown a 6cm Endometrioma cyst on right ovary with a 1.5cm solid mass within. GP has explained that I likely have at least stage 3 endometriosis and I have recently learned that I likely also have adenomyosis as I have an infiltrated uterus but no fibroids seen.

I had an endo ablation 2 years ago and now my endo is 11mm so is thickened as it should be less due to the ablation.

My GP was very sketchy and not really willing to engage in explain anything to me, I was put on a 2ww to gynae and as I count down the days (6 days) till my app I'm getting really anxious as I've had to come to terms with the possibility of several diagnosis of possibilities that I have (endometriosis, adenomyosis, endometrioma and solid mass could be cancer) I've had a lot to absorb over the last couple of weeks and very worried that they will want to whip everything out and force me into menopause and that will probably come with a whole host of other issues.

Please tell me they can solve this without having to remove everything I really don't want to go into menopause early it's really scaring me. Yes I'm 46 and probably only a few years off menopause but I think going through it naturally would be easier than a forced quick shock on the body.

  • Hello Indi42

I'm sorry to hear that you're dealing with some ongoing health problems and that at the moment you're waiting to see the specialist regarding a firm diagnosis. It's understandable that you have questions and that you're feeling concerned about what treatment options may be suggested.

Unfortunately until the specialists have a clear picture of what's going on for you, no one can give you firm answers about your treatment plan options.

Hopefully when you go for your appointment next week they will be able to give you some reassurance about the next steps including options for managing menopause if a hysterectomy is recommended.

If you'd like to talk things through with one of our nurses ahead of your appointment you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm excluding bank holidays.

I hope things improve for you soon.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi

Thanks for replying. It's just the shock of everything they keep finding in a short space of time. I know I need to wait for the specialist to give a formal diagnosis on everything then come up with a plan it's just constantly whirling around my head until then.

I only have 5 days left till I see a specialist then hopefully I will have some guidance on next steps and can breath a little.

Thanks again I really do appreciate your reply.
