Mammogram

I recently had a mammogram that showed something suspicious so I was called back for a cone biopsy . I had another mammogram and an ultra sound scan of my breast and armpit at the same time . The right breast showed microcalcification clustered together into a circular shape , there was also enlarged lymph nodes in the right arm pit . The left breast didn't show anything . Is this anything to be concerned about as it's another week before my results . I have had to symptoms or have felt ill. I have a genetic condition for can increase my risk of breast cancer by around 10%

    Hi Theresa,

A very warm welcome to our forum.

I am so sorry to hear about your symptoms and that you are still waiting on your results. It is impossible for anyone to predict what this could be. Did you have a biopsy after your latest mannogram and scan? This is the most reliable way of diagnosing cancer. Most of us can still feel well and are often not aware of any symptoms.

Microcalcifications should be able to be easily treated. Not all breast changes end up being cancer. Many people have a benign cyst or fibroadenoma. It is also a fact that, out of every 10 people who attend the breast clinic, only 2 will get a cancer diagnosis.

I hope that you get your results soon. Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here or you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
