2ww Referral, after abnormal lymph ultrasound

scared about lymphoma
Hi,

I noticed a lump by my ear and in my neck 5 weeks ago now which have not gone down, I finally had my ultrasound on Monday and then the GP called me in Tuesday morning to discuss the results, he said he's not worried as he thinks it's just an infection (infection was ruled about by a different doctor) but the ultrasound said I have multiple swollen lymph nodes more than one over 1cm, with atypical features and no fatty hilum, which the radiologist said was an unexpected significant finding and suggested a specialist referral.
it's Wednesday and I have recieved a referral to the Thyroid and Endocrine clinic, for further tests, but I thought it would've been Lymphoma specialists due to some of the symptoms. I was also wondering if people could let me know of the tests that will happen- I've had blood tests which were normal minus a high ESR and the abnormal ultrasound, but i want to know what's next and how quickly I'll get answers.

I've had some pain on the right side of my chest and abdomen which I am worried are related, and have had bad pain and fatigue for ages now with some bad itching on legs and arms.

  • Hello fruitlover

I'm sorry to hear that your recent ultrasound appointment has resulted in you being referred for further investigation with a specialist. It's understandable that you have some questions and concerns about what the next steps may be.

I'd suggest giving one of our nurses a call and chatting things through with them. I'm sure they will be happy to offer any advice, information, and support they can along with helping you think about any questions you might want to raise at the appointment. If you'd like to talk with them they're available Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040 (excluding bank holidays).

Hopefully you won't have to wait too long for your appointment and the specialist will be able to give you some reassurance. Do keep in touch and let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
