Lymphoma symptoms - can it be missed on a CT scan?

Hi all,

I hope someone can help. I've been experiencing extreme fatigue, chest pains, itching and swollen lymph nodes since October. Fast forward January and I developed an awful cough that is still present. Also had some weight loss. I got a CT done and the hematologist said everything looks okay. I very much don't feel okay and my lymph nodes are swollen in my neck & groin. What I wanted to ask is did anyone get diagnosed after being told everything is normal initially. Is it possible to miss lymphoma on a CT scan if the lymph nodes are reletively small. Physically they feel big.

Thank you

  • Hello Alexa11223344

I'm sorry to hear that you're still struggling with some ongoing health concerns.

It's good to hear that the CT scan didn't give any immediate cause for concern but I can understand that this doesn't help to give a diagnosis nor improve things for you.

Do keep in touch with your GP and let them know how you're feeling as they will be best placed to arrange any further appropriate tests or referrals.

If you'd like to chat things through with one of our nurses you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm, excluding bank holidays.

I hope you have some answers soon and that things improve for you.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi did anything come of this for you? Currently in the same situation right now

  • I would really like to know too as I have the exact same symptoms and a normal CT. My bloods indicated anemia.

I have lost alot of weight, feel horrendously weak and fatigued all the time, have chest pain on and off. And have now started itching too.
