thanks

  • Hi Nikki,

A very warm welcome to our forum,

I am glad to hear that the antibiotics have eased the pain, even if only a little. It may be that the antibiotics have not completely cleared the infection and that you need a further course. Please contact your GP to discuss this.

It is unusual to have pain with breast cancer. Not all lumps are cancerous. Many turn out to be benign cysts or fibroadenoma. It is also the case that only 2 people , out of every 10 who attend the breast clinic, will get a cancer diagnosis. Unfortunately nobody can detect what is wrong until your biopsy results come back. The biopsy can determine whether or not there is any cancer present and can identify what type of breast cancer it is.

Have you been told when your results will be back? Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Here's hoping for good news.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • hi

thanks for your reply, i've been back to hosptial today for my results and it's confirmed i have breast cancer looks like grade 2 not sure if this is good or bad, they also think 3 of my lymph node's are inflamed to which means the cancer may have spread. i'm so scared that it's spread more i have three children at home. they want to do chemo first is it a bad sign that 3 lymph nodes are inflamed

  • Hi Nikki,

Many thanks for the update. I am so sorry to hear this. Did they say what type of breast cancer you have?

This is treatable, which is good news. It is not the best news that they think. it is in 3 of your lymph nodes, as this means that it has started to spread. This is possibly why they want to do chemo first, as this often shrinks the tumour and prevents spread.

I know that the thought of having cancer is scary and you can possibly hardly believe that it is true, but this is all 'doable' and you will get through it. Our thoughts naturally hone in on our children. Can I ask what ages they are? Try to remain as positive as you can for them,s well as yourself.

I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer a year apart. That was 13 years ago and I still lead a busy and fulfilling life.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on and remember that we are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • thanks for replying

i'm a nervous wreck at the min, so scared if it's spread if it as then it's probably not doable. is it good news that only 3 lymph nodes ate affected or doesn't it really matter

  • Hi Nikki,

You have three levels of lymph nodes. If only 3 are infected, these will be on the first level, so should be easily treatable. I am not a doctor, but as far as I understand, if it had spread further, some of the other layers would have been infected too.

    You've got this!
