Can't shake the fear of lung cancer

I have a cough for past 3 months, chest pain for 1 month now.

Had an X-ray and CT pulmonary angiogram (as my doctor was worried about pulmonary embolism). Which both came back clear. But still can't shake off the fear they missed something - can the CTPA miss something? Is it the same as the CT scan? Honestly I feel so anxious.

I saw a doctor few days ago again as I still have problems and she said everything is clear, listened to my chest - clear as well.

And said she had s cough for 3 months as well and it was nothing. Well it's good for her, but I didn't find it assuring.

Not sure what to do now.

  • If the GP believes there isn't a problem but you aren't reassured its not something you can just forget so I would say your options are going back again maybe seeing a different GP and asking for a scan of some sort because you still feel there's something not right ,if they disagree the other option would be to go private for reassurances then you can move on .

  • Hi,

I have health anxieties so I usually have to reassure myself that if my bloodbwork is ok, scans are ok and the doctor says I'm ok, I go with it. Maybe you could do the same or, get a second opinion from a different doctor.

    Good luck!
