Hi,
Over the last 6-8 months I've had some symptoms that I thought were either a PCOS flare up or peri-menopause - bloating pain in left hand side of my pelvis, breakthrough bleeding and dodgy tummy, one minute constipated and the next the other way.
I went to the GP about it and she referred me for a scan. The ultrasound results came back yesterday with 'a 22mm irregular shaped cyst with thick vascularised walls was seen on left ovary' the report also mentions anechoic fluid around the ovary and suggests a CA125 blood test and repeat scan in 3 months to see if the cyst has resolved.
22mm is small compared to other cysts I've had removed in the past, but they've not been described as thick walled or vascularised before, I've also never been asked to complete a CA125 blood test.
Has anyone had a small cyst that caused symptoms before? Or would know if fluid around the ovary is something I should be concerned about? I'm sure it can't be that urgent or they wouldn't have a suggested a 3 month watch period.
I have a family history of breast, bladder, blood and lung cancer and have read that having PCOS can be a risk factor for ovarian cancer so slightly worried.
Thank you x
