A very warm welcome to our forum and many congratulations on the birth of your baby. 

We all tend to get very tearful and overemotional when we are waiting to be seen at the breast clinic. It is a fact that only 2 people out of every 10 who attend, will receive a cancer diagnosis. It is also a fact that your breasts do change after giving birth. Your GP could well be right that this is just a blocked milk duct. 

It is also a fact that the younger you are, the less likely you are to receive an unwelcome diagnosis, although unfortunately, there are no guarantees.

Your GP has done the right thing by referring you, as it is impossible for her to be sure that nothing untoward is going on. The team at the breast clinic have access to all the necessary scans and tests to rule this out. 

I hope that your appointment date is fairly soon, as the waiting is torture.

Thank you for the reply.  
My appointment is tomorrow, I don't know whether to be pleased or even more scared that they've fit me in so quickly...  
 

I keep telling myself the odds are in my favour and I would like to think the GP wouldn't have overly reassured me the way she did under false pretence.

I've spent far too much time worrying and scrolling through pages on Google which I know I shouldn't have looking for some reassurance when I know I just need to put my big girl pants on and just get through the appointment .

Hi Crossoutthestars,

GPs don't tend to mince their words if they suspect anything untoward. The odds are definitely in your favour. You won't find reassurance on Google. Much of the information is out of date, poorly researched and aimed at the most spectacular cases - a scary prospect.

Just think, by this time tomorrow, you will have already been to the clinic and may even have a diagnosis, although this doesn't always happen at the first appointment.

This is fantastic news. Although the biopsy gives you another wait, it is just as well that you had it done, as you than then be absolutely sure that there is nothing untoward present.

Please let us know when you get your results back. With a fibroadenoma, it should be fine.

Thanks so much.  I'm trying not to overthink it now as they said they would have sent me away without a biopsy if I was under 30 so fingers crossed that comes back fine.  
going to try and not get carried away worrying anymore until then.

I just wanted to come back to update on this as ever since I found my lump I've spent so much time on Google and scrolling through forums searching for reassurance and in the process scaring myself silly.  
I had an appointment for my biopsy results today which that in itself worried me less than a week since my initial breast clinic appointment however it came back fine, just thicker breast tissue. 
 

i know this is not always the case and I am so lucky however just wanted to post this to anyone who finds themselves in this situation.

Thank you for your update. I am absolutely delighted to hear that your biopsy results didn't pick up anything sinister. This must be a great relief for you. Your results will be of great solace to many who are still waiting for a diagnosis.
