Worried about raise in ca125

Hi all,

Im a health professional which doesnt help. My ca125 has been rising and feb was 61 now it is 106. In august i had uss abdo and pelvis aswell as transvaginal and this was clear.

The gp is requesting this is done again gynae team advised that i was to repeat ca125 and then if over 100 ill be for a ct scan. Im really nervous, i have a 4 year old.

I am really scared about this and has been in tears since the dr contacted me. I had cervical scan which was normal and no abnormalities last month.

Any advice would be great

  • You will probably know it could be many other things rather than Ovarian C ,I went through the same shock last October when I got the phone call after an elevated CA125 suggesting I could have it ,I'd also lost a lot of weight and many other symptoms ,I had a Hysteroscopy and a Colonoscopy shortly after that and thankfully it turned out to be Diverticulitis Polyp and a fibroid nothing worrying ,hopefully you'll find the same .

  • Hi jenny, thank you for your reply,  so pleased it wasnt cancerous. In august last year i had epigastric pain and lower abdo pain and bloating which is when this all started. Ca125 in august was 35 I had endoscopy which showed a small hiatus hernia, uss abdo and pelvis and tv uss which was normal. Then i had further bloating and abdo pain in feb so it was redone and ca125 was 61. Gynae advised to watch and wait and repeat in 3 months if ca125 >100 to do ct scan. So im also waiting for uss scan again. As i say cervical smear clear. I do have ongoing abdo pain but related this to too much dairy. Ive not lost any weight but would love to haha! Im 2 stone heavier than i should be!

But im a worrier when it comes to myself and my anxiety is through the roof. My husband just says dont worry until you get the scans etc done, but my head dont function that way. I worry about everything...

    Take care x

  • Its a massive worry but I hope it turns out to be harmless chances are it will be ,come back on after you get sorted out there's always someone on here to talk to Best Wishes x
