Reactive lymphnode for a year, biopsy was negative

Hi! I'm looking for some kind of advice/reassurance. I've had a swollen lymphnode in my neck for almost a year now. I went to an ENT because I can feel a lump when I swallow. They did a CT scan and showed one lymph node to be 1.5 cm. They biopsied it with a fine needle, and it came back benign.

However, it's been 8 months since my biopsy and the lymph node still hasn't gone down. It doesn't hurt, I don't have any other symptoms. From what I can tell I don't think it's gotten bigger, but i don't know without having imaging.

  • I'm sorry to hear your lymph node still hasn't gone down yet Ve0416.

I know this must be worrying but I hope it helps to know that some lymph nodes that never go down remain perfectly fine. It's also encouraging to hear that you're not experiencing any pain or any other symptoms but if you're still concerned there's no harm in going back to your GP to get this looked at again.

Hopefully some of our members who have been in a similar position will share their experiences and advice with you soon but if you'd like to discuss this further with one of our nurses, you can give them a call on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

    Kind regards,
