Menopausal bleeding

Hi I'm 58 and have been on HRT for the last 4-5 years. About 6 weeks ago I suddenly started having very heaving bleeding which was so out of the blue and I have never had bleeding like this before. It was so bad I had to go to A & E. I was seen in Gynaecology and a biopsy was taken and I was given Provera 10mg twice a day. Initially, it seemed to slow bleeding down for a couple of weeks but it is starting to get a bit heavier and I'm panicking it will get really heavy again. I am still awaiting biopsy results (4 weeks). I also had an ultrasound that said I had a 5cm polyp but not sure that would cause such bleeding.

Anybody else had anything

  • Welcome to the forum Tibbers although I'm really sorry to hear about the heavy bleeding you're contending with at the moment.

I know this must be worrying but fingers crossed your biopsy results will come through soon and show that nothing sinister is at hand.

Many of our members have experienced menopausal bleeding as well so you are not alone and I'm sure some of them will stop soon to share their experiences and advice.

I hope some of the tips and advice given in this article will make this time a bit more manageable as well.

If the bleeding does get heavy again do let your GP or the gynaecology department know, but in the meantime we're thinking of you Tibbers and hope you won't have to wait too much longer to get some answers.

    Kind regards,
