2ww referral at 19

hi everyone

i had a gp appointment today where the doctor told me that with the range of symptoms i have currently going on, that she was going to refer me under the 2ww pathway with "suspected cancer due to non-site-specific symptoms"

i feel really scared and it's finally hit me that my doctor suspects it might be that :( im only 19 and was housebound with mental health for the majority of my teen years so i think im more upset that this is all happening now that i mentally feel better

i was just wondering if anyone had any tips or advice for people who have been referred under this pathway?

many thanks

  • Hi

Do you mind me asking what symptoms?

Sounds a strange situation to me.

Especially as you have a history of mental health.

    You are very young too.

  • hi

yes of course! it started off with a few lumps on my stomach area, bad fatigue and general weakness, large amounts of bruising and then the left side of my neck started to swell up. i have blood tests done fairly often and they all mostly came back fairly normal except with a few off kilter. i kept going to my usual gp about these and she wasn't concerned so i left it alone

then a few weeks ago, i started having blood in the toilet bowl and the lump on my stomach got more tender and bigger. since then the fatigue is bad enough that i can only get out of bed for work, i keep having dizzy spells and have no strength to me at all. i also get fevers and really bad night sweats

it sounds really gross but i keep having blood in my snot and just recently started coughing it up in phlegm, which is why i went to an urgent gp appointment today and this new doctor then referred me

I think the doctors originally assumed it was my mental health as there weren't that many symptoms they could physically see, but now that most of them aren't ones that i can fake they're taking me seriously

i hope this answered your question haha

  • Wow you have so many symptoms.

I hope you get answers soon and it's not cancer related.

Let us know how you get on.. good luck

  • Hi elfzx, sorry to hear you're experiencing all these symptoms. I really hope you get some answers soon. The waiting for results is stressful - so difficult to take your mind off it! Best of luck with the appointment xxx
