Worried about symptoms on breasts, what should I do?

Hi, I'm 17 and have been on the desogestrel contraceptive pill for 3 years.

over the past day, the lining on the outside of my left breast has begin to hurt. The whole of my left breast has started being very tender and sore to touch. It is also quite warm to touch too.

I have also developed a rash across the middle of my chest in the middle of both of my breasts.

im very scared, and don't know what to do x

    Hello Hope, I'm sorry that you are feeling anxious about your symptoms. I'm not a medical professional but it sounds like it could be an infection of some kind. It would be very rare for someone your age to have something as serious as breast cancer. However, it would be wise to get this checked out and I suggest you make an appointment to see your GP. If you are so anxious that you would find it hard to wait until Monday, you could call NHS 111 and they may be able to refer you to an out-of-hours GP. In the meantime, try to take a positive view and keep busy with something you enjoy, go for some nice walks which will boost your mood.     A very warm welcome to our forum.

    I am not a doctor either, but I agree with Amy, that this sounds more like an infection. If thhis is so, the sooner you get it checked out, the sooner you'll be back to normal. It is unusual for someone of your age to have cancer, although sadly, not impossible. Of all the people who are referred to the breast clinic, only 2 out of every 10 will get a cancer diagnosis.

    Do see your GP as soon as you can and s/he will decide what needs to be done next.
