    Hi Layshade,

A very warm welcome to our forum.

The best way to find this out is to phone around your private hospitals and ask. I would expect that it may be quicker. My brother was in a similar situation from November 2021 and was referred for an urgent colonoscopy. He finaly had his appointment last Monday. He was told that he has diverticulitis and is now waiting for an ultrasound of his abdomen.

I hope that you manage to get one sooner, but 4 weeks is a quick turnaround. Do please keep in touch and remember, that we are always here for both of you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • I would say its definitely a lot quicker going private from what I've read on here ,the waiting is awful I would try and seek out somewhere private in your own area if you can 4 weeks is a long time to be worried .

  • Good morning

Thankyou I will give them a call tomorrow, the whole situation has been a nightmare 3 weeks ago when I finally made him go to the doctors been getting symptoms since November 22 they sent off the stool sample which was sent back as it was in the wrong pot !!!! Second one was lost !!!,when I rang for the results the receptionist said everything was normal from the lost test I obviously questioned this and pathology to be told his sample was yet to be analysed so called back later in the afternoon to then be told he was being referred  to the 2 week referral at one hospital to be then receiving a letter from another hospital with the telephone consultation he had today to be told of the 4 week wait,he jas been really messed about and is understandably a mess,I had cervical cancer 10 years ago and was diagnosed in the middle of September and all treatment (hysterectomy) all completed by end of October, I understand there a waiting times but it all so much more his mental health I'm worried with

  • Thank you will definitely be calling round tomorrow

  • Hi Layshade,

Sadly, we seem to be hearing of more and more cases like this since Covid. Waiting times also seem to have become much longer in this time. Like you, I was fortunate enough to have both of my surgeries behind me, within 6 weeks from diagnosis, but they were 12 & 13 years ago & this doesn't seem to happen so often nowadays.

Most people describe this stage of the unknown, as the most worrying time of their cancer journeys.

I hope that you make more progress privately. Please let us know how you get on.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Thankyou will do if it was me I'd be there like a shot  going privately ...bloody typical man that he is let's just wait and see ,he's in constant pain now and the mental effects are worse by the day

  • It will be money well spent ,it sounds like you've been well and truly messed about and its the last thing you need at this time ,I hope you get some private treatment sorted quickly for your peace of mind .

  • Thanks you..He really has hopefully he sees sense and will go privately,
