Brown discharge

Hello

i am just reaching out for some support whilst waiting for my app, to investigate and rule out causes.

I've been on the combination pill for about 15 years and haven't experienced break through bleeding before. Past 4 months my withdrawal bleed/period has been lasting around 2/3 days longer than normal. Told my gp at the time but wasn't concerned. I've also recently been having some brown discharge in between my periods a and unsure why. The last time I had brown discharge, I'd decided to skip a period, and was 4 days into my second packed when it happened. I've skipped periods before with no issues, so feeling bit anxious about what it could be. 
Anyone has any similar experience? I'm up to date with my smears and most recent was last year and was negative for HPV. I've got lot going on ag the min and due to go on holiday on Wednesday, so sad I'll have this hanging over me :( thanks for listening I really appreciate it

    Hi Casey

    I'm not a doctor and I'd advice that's the first place you go for advice so it's good you are getting an appointment and can rule things out. I can't comment exclusively on your symptoms but from I've read it seems that discharge can change at many times throughout the month and it's normal. Stress and health concerns can sometimes knock periods off track.

    I was getting spotting between periods last year, sometimes it was pink and sometimes brown random times and after sex, it turned out that I had a cervical ectropean which whilst a bit irritating is not cancerous. It was treated with silver nitrate and no issues since. Sometimes periods can stop start a bit if large clot of blood (lovely I know) and brown discharge can just be old blood or last few cells leaving the body.

    Get checked out but it's probably nothing to worry about xx
