Low Grade Dyskaryosis, Positive HPV and Symptoms

Hi all,

I'm wondering if there's anyone that's been in a similar situation to me?

Just recieved my letter with results showing Low Grade Dyskaryosis and Positive HPV. Waiting a date for the colposcopy.

I've just turned 25 so it was my first smear test.

In the last year or two I've had spotting in between periods, pain during sex and sometimes bleeding too. Then in the last 3 months I've had pain in my groin and what I thought was my ovaries - I told my doctor and had a transvaginal utralsound which came back normal - so no cysts or problems in my ovaries.

For reference, I had both my jabs when I was in school too. I've been on a few different contraceptive pills and currently on anti depressants - not sure if these are relative at all?

Having pieced it all together in my head I'm not sure what to think?

  • Hello

I'm a fair bit older than you.

I've currently got moderate cell changes and hpv. I'm going in for a lletz procedure on Monday.

I've had hpv for a good while.

    I've had this procedure before.

Don't worry to much, if your low grade your probably cin1. Where I'm cin 2.

    You will be fine.

    Take care xx

  • Hi im

the same age as you with some of the same symptoms waiting for my smeer test, have you had your results back yet x

  • Hey,

I've not heard back yet, still waiting for my colposcopy test date. Let me know how yours goes!

  • Hey I'm going for my smeer next week,

what is your symptoms to why you went? Do you get back ache aswell? X

  • Good luck! I went because it was a routine test every 3 years, I turned 25 so it was my first one.

I didn't have any other symptoms other than I've mentioned, no back pain x

  • UPDATE:

So I've had my colposcopy and they took 2 biopsies.

They told me low grade was present but the biopsy results would show whether high grade present too.

I have a phone call next week to discuss the results, I was told up to 6 weeks wait but it's just over 3 weeks so I'm hoping that's not a bad sign.

  • Hey!

I got these exact same results back last week after my latest smear! It's so nerve wracking but quite often these things go away on their own. My best friend had these same results a few years back and they were quite happy to leave it a year and then do another smear to see if it was still there.

  • UPDATE 2:

So I got the confirmation letter for the my telephone appointment on Tuesday with confirmation of CIN2 which is high grade.

The telephone appointment will be to discuss management and treatment options.

I'm worried, I didn't react well to the first colposcopy, my blood pressure dropped and I went into shock, I was delerious and fainted a few times so they said if I had to come back for treatment I'd have to be put under general anaesthetic which I've never had before.

    Anyone else been through this?

    thank you

  • Hey

I'm sorry to hear it's advanced a little and is CIN2.

have they discussed treatments with you?
my friend has CIN2, and they've offered her (I can't remember the correct term) a treatment where they laser off the bad cells to remove them. Could that be an option for you? Definitely request something to relax you or have the anaesthetic!

I think my colonoscopy appointment is beginning of June, feeling nervous as I'm already waiting on brain mri results and panicking it's a tumor so I really don't need the added stress of the abnormal smear
