Positive CA125 and bloating

Hello I'm writing this absolutely terrified! I'm 47 an went to dr last week with bloating. Dr felt a lump in my epigastric area an booked me some blood tests, a urgent ct scan an endoscopy which are next week.
dr rang today to say all bloods ok except ca125 was positive!! I'm so worried as they found a lump in my stomach yet ca125 reads it's ovaries. I'm scared I have cancer an it's spread from ovaries to stomach. I have bloating most days but normally after bowel movement, I have nausea odd days too.
has anyone else had a positive ca125 with bloating an it been ok? The waiting for tests next week is awful after this blood result. Thank you x

  • I had bloating and an abnormal ca125 blood test last October but no lumps or anything after having an ultrasound and a Hysteroscopy they didn't find anything worrying only Polyp and Diverticulitis so its possible that yours could be something similar fingers crossed for you .

  • Thank you for your reply. I'm glad yours was ok. It's the not knowing an waiting that's worse. Google is scary!

  • Hi, I hope you don't mind me asking, but what was your ca125 level? Mine was tested 2 weeks ago at 70 and has risen to 82 and I've never been so scared

  • Hi I don't mind at all and if I knew I'd tell you but I don't ,I was so shocked and distraught the day they rang to say I could have Ovarian cancer after an elevated ca125 and other symptoms that I never asked ,I didn't even know what the blood tests were for until I got the call ,but having been on here for quite some time now I can tell you that a raised ca125 doesn't necessarily mean its cancer its much more likely to be something much less serious ,I know it won't stop you from worrying we all do but there's so many other things it could be ,stay in touch if there's anything you need to know someone is always here .

  • Thank you for replying & for being so kind. I did just reply to someone but not sure it was the right post. This is basically where I'm at if it desognates with any of your symptoms please let me know.

The ca125 test was actually done by my gp to give me reassurance ‍♀️ first done on the 17th of April, level was 70, repeated yesterday and level increased to 82. I had an altrasound which was clear and haven't been offered the hysterscopy for biopsy's or CT's etc. . I feel like going private and paying for an MRI but it's a lot of money when I'm meant to be taking my two daughters to Florida next month I'm 31 but being this age means nothing because cancer is ignorant to age as we know. I do have PCOS. I had a laparoscopy done 10 years ago for endo which was clear. I suppose I'm worried it's small, growing and being missed by consultants OR that the cancer is in uterus is somewhere in that region.

i was meant to have a video call with my consultant. On Tuesday but her secretary phoned advising to come to her clinic to be scanned instead. So I'm wondering if this increase has gotten her worried too. She was very reassuring before and felt it was highly unlikely to be cancer but no one can know that for sure. My pain comes and goes, same with the swelling & bloating and I definitely feel my symptoms are related to my vowels if that makes sense? I get a lot of pain and IB symptoms at certain times of the month that isn't eased with going to the toilet - it's worsened!

sorry for the info overload. I'm also recently diagnosed autistic so I do find it impossible not to fixate and worry beyond belief. Xxx

  • Hi

I can't say yet that all is OK with me but I remain optimistic. My CA125 is 141 and I too have bloating but also intermittent bleeding and USS has confirmed a large ovarian cyst which is suspected to be an endometrioma but it also has a solid mass inside it.

I'm convincing myself that the mass is a blood clot as endometrioma is a blood filled cyst, and the bloating is linked to endometriosis as I wouldn't have the cyst unless I had endometriosis. These things are easier in my head to cope with than cancer and hopefully it's what I will also be told by gynae in 6 days.

The waiting is really difficult for tests and results and treatment but it is a process that has to be followed and hopefully you will get results quickly with a positive plan. Hope all turns out OK for you.

  • I fully understand where you're coming from its so hard when you can't get answers straight away ,I had as I say elevated ca125 weight loss bloating and constant diarrhea I did a fit test as well which showed blood visible ,I had a hysteroscopy and a colonoscopy last October all they showed was polyp which was removed fibroid and Diverticulitis they also took biopsies which showed nothing nasty so it was a massive relief ,its good they are going to scan you I'm sure if there's anything there they would know they are very thorough and very kind and caring I found ,let us know how you get on at the scan .

  • I definitely don't have weight loss, unfortunately lol . I wish they would just do the key hole surgery to have a look but my consultant has said they don't perform unnecessary surgery. I have a feeling on Tuesday she is going to tell me to wait and then maybe repeat the ca125. She was happy with my previous ultrasound but ultrasound I've heard isn't always the best to find tumours. I'm worried sick but not sure there's much else I can do. The rising ca levels are what worry me the most
